Michigan Agriculture... Diverse, Dependable, Delicious

The American agriculture industry has a theme this year. The national theme is “American Agriculture. Abundant, Affordable, Amazing.”

And while that certainly also applies to Michigan’s farming industry, we suggest that Michigan agriculture could use a theme of its own.

Here’s a suggestion: Michigan Agriculture. Diverse. Dependable. Delicious.

Diverse: Michigan agriculture is amazing in its diversity. So many crops are raised here that agriculture has become Michigan’s second largest industry.

Dependable: Hundreds of thousands of Michigan residents earn their living in the agriculture sector. From farming to food processing, agriculture in all its forms is Michigan’s dependable industry.

Delicious: Just bite into a cherry pie, cut into some Michigan beef, sip a Michigan wine, or enjoy the taste of Michigan’s great dairy products. Absolutely delicious.

Why Wives Need Life Insurance

Maybe you don’t like to think about life insurance, but if you have loved ones—or people who depend on you—you need it.

In fact, life insurance the foundation of financial security for you and your family. Even if your spouse has life insurance already, you probably still need it, too.

Look at it this way: If the wife dies, there’s a tremendous loss to the family. Who will take care of the children? Child care can be very expensive.

And if the wife works outside the home, life insurance can help replace the income she provides. Life insurance is necessary to replace the financial value she brings to the family, whether she’s a stay-at-home mom or someone who works outside the home.

Get the life insurance you need for you and your spouse now... when you can still afford it. Your Farm Bureau Insurance agent will help you determine how much you and your spouse will need.

Kids Sick? Some Survival Tips...

It happens. Your child gets sick and has to miss a day of school.

So how can you help your kids and life their spirits when they’re home sick? A few tips:
  • Keep a water bottle next to your child’s bed so they can soother themselves if they wake up with a scratchy throat.

  • To cool fevered brows, stick our child’s pillowcase in the freezer for a couple of minutes. Be sure to slip it into a plastic bag to keep it clean.

  • Ease chills by tumbling your child’s bathrobe in the clothes dryer for 10 minutes.

  • To soothe your child, give him or her a massage or foot rub.

  • Focus on diversions that are entertaining but not exhausting, such as listening to music or audio books or being read to.

  • Plan a picnic lunch on your child’s bedroom floor.

  • Nutrition can be tricky if your child has a stomach bug or a dulled appetite. Offer smaller portions in smaller dishes... in a cup instead of a bowl, for example. Or, for an extra dose of fun, try toy dishware.
And, of course, make sure you have the right health insurance to protect your family. Your Farm Bureau Insurance agent can help you with your health insurance needs.

We offer plans administered by Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Michigan, the most trusted name in health care in the state. For health insurance made easy, contact your Farm Bureau Insurance agent today.

Celebrate National AG Week March 14-20

Agriculture is helping to revitalize the economy, so National Ag Week is being celebrated March 14-20 to focus on ag’s important role in the daily life of Americans. Within that week, National Ag Day is also being celebrated on March 20.

This is a time to celebrate abundance all across the nation... and in Michigan, too. Michigan will also observe Ag Week and Ag Day. Agriculture is Michigan’s second largest industry so we have a lot of reason to celebrate in this state
