Secure Email Program Instructions

In the interest of safeguarding your personal information, the Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies (MFBFOC) is pleased to announce a new means of exchanging information via email.
Any emails containing sensitive information and any documents attached to those emails sent from MFBFOC will be transmitted securely and will be viewable only by you. Your response will be protected in the same fashion and will return directly to the MFBFOC representative from whom you originally received the email.
Below is information on receiving a secure email from MFBFOC. This information will explain how to set up an initial password, supply answers to specific questions, and reset your password if necessary.
- When you receive an email with Secure Email Notification in the subject line and content similar to that shown below, single click on the View Message link to open it.
- A page will display with an entry form (shown below) that should display your email address as the User Name. You should enter a password of your choice in the Password entry field, then enter it again in the Confirm Password entry field, and click Submit.
It is recommended that your password be at least eight characters. It may contain letters, numbers and special characters, but should be something easy to remember.
When retrieving secure email in the future, the password must be entered exactly as you enter it the first time. Therefore we recommend using all lower case, rather than mixed case.
- Provide answers to the three life questions displayed on the next screen (shown below), and click Submit. These answers will allow you to reset your own password in the future if necessary.

Note: All three life questions must be answered correctly in order to reset your password. If the password reset fails, please select the reply option on the original email message and request assistance.
- Once you have entered and confirmed your password, and successfully answered the life questions, your secure message and any attachments will be available for reading.
Please note: To ensure the security of your sensitive information, you may only reply to the MFBFOC sender of the secure email. You may do this by selecting the Reply option and adding any attachments requested or desired.
